T3 Motion, Inc. (OTC BB: TMMM), a leader in clean-technology electric vehicles announced the completion and delivery of its prototype electric consumer vehicle—the R3.  The R3 is the first vehicle in the T3 product line to be developed specifically for the consumer market and was unveiled in June 2010. The prototype was completed last week and is on display at the T3 Motion headquarters in Costa Mesa, CA.
“The completion of our R3 prototype culminates the years of product and market research, system design and management along with revolutionary design concepts,” said Ki Nam, T3 Motion CEO. “From conception to completion, this clean-technology product embodies a unique and groundbreaking vanguard for our launch into the consumer arena. By adding this vehicle to our product line, we continue our mission to deliver powerful, cost-effective, clean-energy products to the marketplace.”

Previously known as the GT3, the R3 features a proprietary rear-wheel design with a patent-pending, single, wide-stance wheel with two tires. The revolutionary two-tire design improves traction, stability, and handling, while the low rolling resistance and rounded profile of the rear tires increase energy efficiency.

The vehicle’s AC induction motor is powered by lithium-polymer battery technology and has a range of 80-100 miles per charge. The R3 incorporates the AV Samsung Galaxy into the sleek dashboard design.  Due to its unique three-wheeled design, the R3 is classified as a motorcycle and will be priced between $25,000 and $35,000.

With its aerodynamic styling and proven T3 Motion intelligent power management battery system, the two-passenger R3 combines driving pleasure and environmental responsibility into a very stylish package with a top speed of 70 mph.

with a view to equaling the performances of its prestigious cousin the Formula 3 with
its combustion engine.

For its first runs on the Magny-Cours Formula 1 track two weeks ago with Jules
Bianchi, then on the Bugatti track in Le Mans last week in the hands of Alexandre

An ambitious and innovative project

Formulec and SEGULA Technologies wish to apply the most advanced technologies in terms of electric propulsion to the world of high-level motor racing, in particular that of a new generation racing car.

Formulec and the EF01 are the precursors of motor racing of the future. Together, they confirm the technological showcase that is major races where research, performance and innovation are intimately linked to reach a level of excellence. Many technological innovations were used in designing this racing car, with above all, a highly compact and integrated architecture, and optimized battery distribution around the car.

With the advent of the EF01 and its avant-garde technology, new horizons of investigation will open up for all those involved in this ambitious project. They will accelerate research, improve the effectiveness of solutions on offer for electric propulsion and, as required, adapt them to the cars of tomorrow. Ultimately, the sporting and showcase vocation of motor racing will be strengthened by this technological dimension. More than ever, Formulec and EF01 in their field, are contributing to making top motor sport a laboratory for new technologies resolutely aiming for the future.

We went to Pebble Beach for a set of meetings during the Concourse d’ Elegance. The weather was by far not what was expected, rather chilly and with a morning fog/drizzle. On Friday we had meetings with Larry Webster at Spyker/SAAB, where we met with Spyker VP Hans van Rennes and the Dutch Consul General Bart van Bolhuis, talking through the options of creating a SAAB 9-5 EV conversion for the San Francisco Consulate. Sadly Spyker/SAAB boss Victor Muller had to cancel last minute.

We also met with Frank Stephenson, Director of Design at McLaren, who was there introducing the new McLaren MC-12.

During a special Electric Vehicle Dutch Business Breakfast on June 17 at the Royal Dutch Consulate in downtown San Francisco, Cor Steenstra presented Steenstra GCM, the new American company which aims to produce high-end zero emission sports cars. During the presentation Steenstra also unveiled the latest guise of the Styletto, an electrically powered super sports car squarely aimed at the likes of Ferrari and Lamborghini.

Since first introduced in September 2009, the Styletto underwent extensive engineering and aerodynamic research, which clearly influenced the design to become more homogeneous, sleek and dynamic. The attendees, a distinct selection of representatives for venture capital companies, investors, lawyers and bankers, were clearly impressed by both the design of the Styletto, as well as by Steenstra’s timely concept for this company.

With the current oil disaster in the Gulf Coast, it is ever more apparent that the United States should no longer be as dependent of fossil fuels as it has been, if it wants to retain a livable environment for future generations, a point emphasized by Steenstra in his personal motivation for starting this capital undertaking.

Since the launch of the first pictures for Steenstra GCM of the Styletto, a lot of thought and critique has gone over many details of the design. After the 1/5th foam scale ideation model, it was time to optimize the 3D computer model in time for the presentation at the Dutch Consulate in San Francisco.

Justin Horton made a quick fifth-scale foam model of the Styletto, so we could try out some design experimentation on it. It is quite a dusty process, but it does get the creative juices flowing.
